Thierry Hugnin

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Thierry holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Finance from Paris IX-Dauphine University in France and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales in 1993. He started his career in investment banking, in London later joining Blakeney Management, a London-based investment boutique, focusing on public and private equity in Africa and the Middle East. In this capacity, he participated in a number of private equity transactions notably Social Security Bank in Ghana and MSI, the mobile phone company which later became Celtel. Thierry later moved back to Mauritius and co-founded Kibo Capital Partners in 2007 with Jean-Pierre Dalais in a venture with CIEL Limited to pursue his belief that Africa offers attractive opportunities for private equity.

Christoph Evard


Prior to joining Kibo Capital Partners in 2014, Christoph was Vice President at DEG/KfW Group, where he structured and managed equity and mezzanine investments across Africa. He previously worked in M&A Corporate Finance for Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan, where he held several positions. He holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University, USA, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Basle, Switzerland. In 2001, Christoph co-founded Vistage Germany, a business in the services industry, working closely with CEOs of mid-sized corporations.

Raj Domun


Raj studied in the UK for his ACCA and admitted as Fellow of the Association in 2001. Before joining Kibo Capital Partners in early 2007, he worked at Mauritius Telecom Ltd (MT), the leading incumbent telecommunication operator in Mauritius, for over 15 years and notably as Head of Business Development. In that capacity, he worked as Finance Director for one MT’s subsidiaries in South Africa. As an early member of the Kibo team, Raj participated actively in the establishment of the Kibo I portfolio.

Kevin Kamau Rodrigues


Kevin holds a bachelors degree in Economics from Northwestern University, USA and an MBA from London Business School. After starting his career in mergers & acquisitions in New York with Credit Suisse, Kevin has focused on emerging markets private equity investing since 2008 with roles at the International Finance Corporation, IFC Asset Management Company, CDC Group, Black River Asset Management (now Proterra Investment Partners) and Development Partners International. Kevin joined the Kibo team in 2017.

Nitish Nowjee


Nitish is finance graduate and member of the ACCA since 2008. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in auditing later acquiring extensive experience in fund administration and accounting from prior roles with Northern Trust in Guernsey and Argyll Management in Mauritius. He joined the Kibo team in August 2014.

Mike Nguyai


Prior to joining KCP in 2014, Mike worked in Chase Bank (K) Limited in various roles including bank operations and treasury dealing. He also worked in Safaricom as a Business Analyst where he helped set up the business reporting and analytics role in the Enterprise Division. He has also worked in Wananchi Group (K) Limited as a Business Analyst in finance department responsible for financial analysis, budgeting and management reporting for the satellite line of business. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Nairobi.

Shakeel Jankee, CFA


Shakeel joined the team in early 2015. He obtained his bachelors in Economics and Finance from the University of Bristol and a Masters in Financial Analysis and Fund Management with Merit from the University of Exeter.  Shakeel has successfully completed CFA programme.
